'I want my pictures [...] to have poignancy and sharpness but with humour on top'. Thus opens the foreword with a quote from the artist that also serves a credo truly felt throughout the book. With a 120 photo plates in fine condition, his photographs indeed blend that humorous witness to British dailiness with a more sombre undertone.
